The January 12th earthquake that resulted in catastrophic injuries and loss of life in Haiti has also caused severe damage to Haiti's precious cultural resources. Museums, archives, libraries and other important collections have been damaged and are at risk from exposure to the elements and aftershocks. The U.S. Committee of the Blue Shield is working with our partners in the international Blue Shield network to assist our cultural heritage colleagues in Haiti in the salvage and preservation of their cultural heritage for future generations. Your donation to the U.S. Committee of the Blue Shield will directly support emergency salvage and preservation of cultural heritage affected by the earthquake in Haiti, which may include deploying cultural heritage professionals, sending conservation supplies, and providing other financial resources for cultural heritage needs.
USCBS is a United States 501(c)(3) charitable organization, so donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the U.S. tax law. Contributions made on or before February 28, 2010 may qualify for an optional accelerated 2009 deduction.
